2011 Transit Connect Rear Clunk When Braking

Postby caminogirl » Sat May 18, 2024 11:38 pm

I purchased my 2011 Connect camper van in July 2023 with 138,000 miles (at a very good price) knowing that she needed some work. In particular, there was a clunking noise coming from the rear when applying the brakes. This is what has been done so far:

1) The rear brakes were replaced including brake fluid flush

2) The emergency brake was re-connected (no idea whey it wasn't connected)

3) The driver side rear wheel bearing (which had seized) was replaced

4) We did the test with the emergency brake on 3 notches and driving it forward and then in reverse and then waiting 15 minutes

5)The drums were moved to the opposite sides.

6) They shop has talked to Ford, but no one has any other ideas.

7) The vehicle is still at the shop.

Any thoughts on what else to try?

maybe spring hanger bushings are worn , or a spring broken. or bolts loose, as when braked, it is possible for these things to show up.

all the best..mark

Check the rear anti roll bar and that the spare isn’t loose
