Voltage at A/C clutch relay switched ground

Postby HD808 » Tue Jul 09, 2024 2:06 am

I replaced the condensor core, vacuum checked for leaks, and tried to recharge system. The recharge was very slow for the first 12 oz. and even slower on the next. 22oz. in and I noticed the compressor never came on. I have completed all tests and have voltage at the a/c clutch relay switched ground. I am hoping for any fix except digging that PCM out. I am wondering if the PCM is not engaging the switched ground because of the low pressure in the system and is it OK to jump the compressor to pressure up the system ? THANKS.

Watch Rainman Rays Repairs on youtube - he is does a lot of AC stuff and explains a lot , like what the pressures should be in the high side and low side if the system is working correctly.
One thing he mentions is that the fans should be running all the time when the system is operating...so if you have a fan that's not operating then the compressor will not run. if controlled by the PCM

He also had trouble filling systems and changed filling point from high side to low side or vice versa.
He often changes shradder valves ..mentioning that they are a common cause of failure.
other failures to get system running resulted in total replacement of compressor and condenser ..and a flush, because the system was full of detritus from the compressor failing. you also have the expansion valve the accumulator to worry about ..and if evaporator ..god help you .

sorry don't know anything about the PCMs management of the AC. if that's happening then it gets very complicated.

all the best.mark
