Watch Rainman Rays Repairs on youtube - he is does a lot of AC stuff and explains a lot , like what the pressures should be in the high side and low side if the system is working correctly.
One thing he mentions is that the fans should be running all the time when the system is operating...so if you have a fan that's not operating then the compressor will not run. if controlled by the PCM
He also had trouble filling systems and changed filling point from high side to low side or vice versa.
He often changes shradder valves ..mentioning that they are a common cause of failure.
other failures to get system running resulted in total replacement of compressor and condenser ..and a flush, because the system was full of detritus from the compressor failing. you also have the expansion valve the accumulator to worry about ..and if evaporator ..god help you .
sorry don't know anything about the PCMs management of the AC. if that's happening then it gets very complicated.
