Well, if was a clutch hydraulics problem ..it would still take up drive as the hydraulics are designed to separate the drive / disconnect it , and "at-rest" is inoperative ..it would be "in drive"
So as one of the things they did was pull the drive shafts out ..they could be looked at ......because of the way the differential in the gearbox works ..you only have to have one drive shaft fail - to have no drive to both.
Possible reasons for drive shaft failure.
1. They pulled it out instead of levering near the box and they snapped the circlip that holds in place the tripod or they pulled the outer cv joint apart ...in both cases it can still appear that the drive shaft is connected as the boots may be hiding the dislocation.
2. Snapped driveshaft
3. Nut fell off end of drive shaft, because it wasn't tightened correctly ..nut is 320 newton meters and has no locking mechanism
is there any noise taking place ?
Gearbox fault.
1. Gearbox outer shift mechanism busted / worn ..and its really in neutral
2. other faults are within the gearbox .
Clutch plate or diaphragm
1. cheap Chinese clutch plate has failed in some way
all the best.mark
