Transit connect 1.8 tdci 2007 light fault

Postby sa570 » Sat Nov 09, 2024 4:32 pm

Hi all, i am having problems finding a fault with the near side, side lights.
There seems to be no power there, and continuity shows its going to ground, from the rear to the passenger footwell, that's the orange and white wire. all fuse meter ok, but i will check again
i haven't metered the front yet as the fault used to just be on the rear light and i thought that might stop the front working.
I have checked bulbs and replaced, i have checked for bad earth, i have removed lining and checked for screws hitting cable ect, i cant figure out how to the remove the pin from the rear light cluster block to check it, but surly it shouldn't go to ground.
Sorry for the long post, but am i missing something, thanks for any help.

If it is only the rear light, then the fuse (F55 - 7.5Amp) in the glovebox, must be okay.
Using a multimeter for continuity, it will show to ground if the bulb is plugged in!

Thanks for your reply, the front side light is out as well, is the orange and white cable supposed to be going to ground then.
Its got me stumped, i will have to check that fuse again.

Well the fuses are ok, there is power to them, and the connector block in the passenger footwell, but still no side lights on the left side :?

Don't want to make you do un-necessary work , but think your problem may be here.

when i had my bumper off, i noticed chaffing of the wires as they came out of the loom ..which i fixed ...note i did not even bother to find out what these wires were for ..i just repaired them!

The area ..see the loom just above the bumper re-enforcement bar ..that's where these wires were on mine. see the taped up area on the loom, this is where the single wire emerges from the loom. couple more wires around the corner as well.. cant remember which one on mine.

Picture is off ebay not mine ..connect mk1 with bumper removed ..sorry, to find and repair this, you may also have to remove bumper.

note -- if you decide to take the bumper off, two of the bolts are under the number plate

Thanks mark, got it sorted now, the problem seemed to be at the rear of the fuse box. I ended up fitting a link wire at the rear of the fuse box, and all good.
