Transit Connect USB stick

Postby KameTC » Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:23 pm

Hi guys, please can you help me?
I have a 2023 Transit Connect with a basic radio (no Sync).
I bought a 64GB USB stick for music, but when I plug it in and select the USB source, the radio display says USB MEDIA NOT AVAILABLE. This USB stick is formatted in exFAT format, I was unable to format to FAT32.

My question is: is it possible that the USB stick does not work because it must be in FAT32 format?
Thanks

The way I read it, only sync 3 uses exFAT, everything else previous uses FAT32. Your drive also needs to be a max of 32gb :(

Ok thank you very much. The last test I will do is to format in FAT32. Now it is exFAT because with dimensions greater than 32GB you can not format in FAT32, but with some software you can get around this limit.

No point in trying file system trickery.

FAT32 and 32GB max, that's it.

I confirm, 64 GB USB pen drives also work, the important thing is that they are formatted in FAT32 format.
To format memory larger than 32 GB you need a tool, I used "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool" (because Windows natively does not allow you to format memories larger than 32 GB in FAT32 but only in exFAT or NTFS).

I hope it can be of help to other users

Does the radio see beyond the 32 GB limit tho?
