Postby Johnb92 » Sat May 03, 2025 5:55 pm

Hi all got a 14 plate connect got a cracked liner on piston 2 just wondering if I put the engine in out of the Ford focus with the same bhp model would I have to swap anything or would it be just a direct fit and sorted the car in question is a 2010 focus but it’s the same bhp model

You would have to swap the injectors over and the order that they came out.. so they codes were the same.. if its got a different make of high pressure fuel pump .then that would be have to swapped if it has electronics on it, anything the pcm looks at that is different could cause problems. other than that i don't know.

all the best.mark

Are they both 1.6 TDCi engines?

Yours would be a Euro5, and the Focus from 2010 would likely be a Euro4, so although similar, are not quite the same

Both 1.6 and it would be a euro 4 but isn’t the Dpf the only difference I were going to get that cut out and mapped

The fuel systems are different I think, but I must admit that I haven't looked at them that hard. I have both those engines in two Focus's which are both nearly on 200k miles.

Seems ridiculous to pay 1800 for a connect engine when the focus ones can be brought for 400 my engine codes t1ga and the focus being t1da surely it’s just bolt ons that need changing are the mountings in the same position do you know

They've been fitting Focus engines and gearboxes into Connects for years, there's even a compatibility chart in the useful information section, but it only covers the 1.8 engines used in the Connect until Euro 5 became a thing.
Whilst it may be possible to use the Euro 4 Focus 1.6 in your Connect, my only reservation is that it may not be straightforward because software issues may be a problem.
I'm certainly no expert, and I don't want to put you off, I'm just trying to alert you to possible issues that may or may not rear their heads.
Maybe a Euro 5 engine from a Mk3 Focus would make an easier swap?

Yes I agree the euro 5 would be easier the Ford focus engine in question code is t1da mine being t1ga if I bolt on all my auxiliaries surely there would be no difference between the 2 both being euro 5
