2008 Connect 1.8 TDCI EGR Faults P0406 & P0489

Hi there, I have a 2008 Connect 1.8 TDCI.
Van has covered 61k miles and runs pretty sweet, its good on fuel an all in has been an excellent van.

Problem being - the engine management light is on and I have the vans MOT coming up shortly.

The code reader is showing codes P0406 & P0489.
Knowing the codes relate to the EGR - I removed the EGR actuator and checked the EGR operating plunger and its moving freely both fully in and fully out.
I replaced the regulator with another to no avail.
So any advice/tips here would be most appreciated because I'm snookered without the van working.

Sounds like you've been working on the turbo and not the EGR to me
