Heated windshiels Ford transit connect 2015

Postby D33zN0tz84 » Sat Jan 10, 2026 11:55 am

Hi all,

I hope to find answers to my troubling questions. :|

My windshield is heated, but it doesn't work. Tested with thermal camera and now the moment I
post this toppic its -3 outside and easy tested.
When I push the button inside, the orange light lights up but thats it.
I've already measured everything. When I turn on the ignition, the relay receives 12V, and it works.
I also tested it from the car with a power supply.

The fuses (two, one for the left and one for the right) receive 12V, and none of the fuses have blown.
Up to that point, it works, but then I'm stuck now.
I'd like to know where the wires or connectors for the windshield heater are located and
how I can access them to test whether the 12V is reaching them.
Does anyone have experience with this, photos, or the correct explanation I'm looking for, because I'm at a loss :)

The power connectors to the screen are near the base of the A pillars, both sides :)

Hi all thanks for the responses, ive found the connectors and ive tested the windows with straight power from the battery and both sides work
and they drawn about 22a of power (see all the pictures)
Ive tested with a thermal camera but somehow the connectors do not receive 12v when i push the button
(car is running so i slould measure 13-14v)
Does someone have any idea where the two wires are going to? I mean the wires at the bottom left and right...
do they go to the Body control module inside the car? or soms other module.
I want to measure continuety on those wires where they get there power from.

It will be through a relay

R7 in the engine bay fuse box

looks also like: it's covered by two fuses for left and right of the screen F14 and F16

https://fuse-box.info/ford/ford-transit ... -and-relay

On the page above, to find the results quickly on internet explorer .. use the "find on page function"

type in "wind" .. and you'll find everything connected with that word.

Hi, yes ive found the relay before he gets power and also the 2 fuses are good.
The wires thet leave the fuses... Where do they go? Are they going to the window left and right?

well you can check if there is power going to each fuse when its activated .. if non ... then its further back at the relay .. or the switch in the cabin that controls the relay .

if power is found at each fuse .. then it will be the wiring to each side of the screen

sorry don't have 2015 manual or circuit diagrams..

found 2018 one if its the same or not, I don't know? ---- possibly as the fuse box diagrams linked before say 2014 - 2018

https://fixmycarinfo.com/ford/transit-c ... -diagrams/

or it may go through the body control module .. and then im no use to you .. note during dpf regeneration, the screen is switched on by the process on some transits . so may go through other controls

BTW if anyone can figure out a way of saving the circuit diagrams link to a file .. do it and share the file
as it will not be there forever!

Hi, I'll ask a friend if he can download this, he works in IT. :)

Now, to get back to my problem, I see in the diagram that, like in my case, there are two 40A fuses from the relay.

The strange thing is that when I turn on the ignition and start the car, 12V is immediately applied to the relay and the fuses,
but this power doesn't reach the wires to the left and right windshields.

The button inside to turn the windshield heater on and off doesn't do anything. An orange LED lights up, but nothing else happens.
Yes, it does switch off automatically after a few minutes.

The relay receives power the moment I start the car, and according to the diagram, this shouldn't happen, I think...
it must be receiving a command from somewhere... a module? PCM? BCM?

Like this it should work I guess:
start car => push button => from button to a module => module gives signal to relay to turn on => relay turns on => fuses power => wires window 12v => window heats up => timer shuts down

Mine is like this:
Start car, push button => button does nothing because relay already had power => fuses already get power because relay whas on by starting the car => fuses do not give power to wires of window. => windows do not heat

think the only way it could already be switched on is that DPF is in regeneration mode.

as regards it not working .... you've looked at everything other that the wiring

some people did a medication , were-by an LED would illuminate when DPF regeneration was taking place by somehow wiring an LED across the heated screen circuit, maybe they did a botch job of this, if you see an extra LED somewhere that's the place to look .

I don't see an extra LED anywhere. I can hear regeneration because it blows loudly when I'm stationary. No extra LEDs light up during this process either.

The windshield defroster button works normally, so I press it, the orange LED comes on, and when I push it back, it goes off. It also turns off automatically if I don't push to turn it off.
The button doesn't do anything, though, because the relay is already on when I start the car...
I really don't know what to do with this...
