oil leak

Postby belly » Fri Feb 15, 2008 10:56 am

Hi my o5 connect seems to have started to leak a little oil only a slight drip  it seems to be around the sump gasket but tbh ive not had any time to check it out properly  is there a common fault maybe around that area ? its beneath where all the pulleys and gubbins are! the van is on 24k now and its a t230 lx tdci 90ps would this be a warrenty job? as i think its warrenty is up on the 1st of march! plus jan and feb are always tight months fo me due too inland revenue :( so im hoping this is a warrenty thingy! in the meantime im checking the oil religiously

I'd have a good look at it, the filter can leak a little as the seal ages.

The sumps are usually OK as they use a sealant on the joint and not a gasket.

Crank seals and fuel pump gear seals can also leak, but they aren't that common tbh.

I'd go with the crank seal or pump gear, but I have done quite a few engine ladder frame gaskets.

Should be warranty, unless anything has damaged it

Yep, sounds about right :D you have to take the gearbox out to do the rear crank seal, so nothing to worry about
