Which is closest match car to the connect ?

Postby GeraintUK » Tue Mar 11, 2008 11:42 pm

I'm trying to source some aftermarket parts which is proving difficult for the connect.

Couple of prime examples are a double din facia panel fitting kit for a Kenwood 7200.
Also i've got a couple of nice steering wheels from momo and sparco in the garage, but can't find a steering wheel boss listed.

Did the connect share parts with another Ford sibling, like an S-Max or C-Max ?

Be easier to find listed parts for them.

regards

The Connect seems to be the result of the mk6 transit and mk1/2 Focus getting it together one quiet evening

well the steering wheel is the same as some fitted to the fiestas!! the plastic doorhandle lever and locks inside looked the same as the alloy ones fitted in the rear of a mondeo ghia i was in! although it was a taxi and i was a little pished  and i think the stud pattern is the same as most newish 5 stud fords ie: mondeo focus etc etc i personally think the polished mondeo st 19" alloys would look rather good 8) but as mine is a work van they would get knackered and tyres are expensive plus with commercials putting car alloys on is a bit dodgy

further to this, i'm looking at how i get to the steering wheel internals.....i.e how does the airbag/horn push remove ?

Is there a workshop manual that covers the connects ?
I've seen plenty on ebay etc that list UPTO 02 Connect, lol

Cheers

The steering colomn top cowel needs to come off, then on the back of the steering wheel there is 2 access holes which you push a thin flat blade screwdriver through and flick the clip towards the center of the wheel (both sides), then pull the top of the air bag away from the wheel then push the air bag up to release the bottom clips, simple as that
Dont forget the usuall H&S guidelines, disconnect the battery and wait for a while for the air bag system to deactivate :!:

As for the workshop manual, apart from the new connects, they are all the same so as long as its says connect on the disc, it should be OK :D
