Petrol and matches required please!!

Postby veluxsolutions » Wed Aug 06, 2008 11:43 am

I have a 2003 connect with a whining gearbox and now totally fooked engine!
In the empty expansion tank looks like an oilly mixture, no oil in the sump and a split pipe at the rear of the engine (looks like a breather) this had been rubbing on the turbo clamp. I pulled over when it started smoking and noticed a oily watery mix spaying out of the breather on to the exhaust.
The engine still runs tho!

Would I be right in thinking this would be the head gasket?
Is the bearing in the gearbox easy to fix?
Do haynes do a manual for the connect?

Help appreciated.

Sounds like the oil cooler has split internally for the oil/water mix :!:

Whining gearbox? are you sure its inside the box, not a idler pulley/driveshaft bearing etc :?:

Dont know about the haynes manual, best bet is get a TIS disc off ebay

Thanks coconut,
The gearbox noise is very similar to that alpha Clarkson bought the other week on top gear!
How do I paste a picture of my van on here, Norwich union sold it without me emptying it, hope someone may see it up breakers.
