Break in!!!

Postby daycm1 » Wed Aug 27, 2008 10:53 am

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before on here and I apologise if it has but I came out to leave for work this morning and found my van open, doors ajar and all my cd's from the glove compartment scattered all over the place inside the van! Now I remember locking the van last night and also double locking it because my side door is a bit tempramental and I check all the doors to make sure they have been locked religiously.

Now my worry is that the whole van was open even the back doors which I know were locked last night! Is there security issues with these vans or can they be opened by another form other than the key or keyfob? It's not as tho they had even broke in or knackered the lock as they are all fine and also no alarm went off!

The good thing tho is that nothing was taken, no cd's or anything out the back, nothing in the back really anyway but still nothing at all!! It puzzled me as to why they would bother but then again they don't know what's in there until they look I guess!!!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers Damon.

tibbe locks can be picked with a commercially available tool in about thirty seconds - this may be what was used - get yourself an alarm or some independant physical deadlocks is my advice

A lot of locks can be beaten in around a few seconds, especially that one that most people have on there front doors. Search youtube for key bumping and you will see. I have a set that covers most yale type locks and it cost me less than £100.

thats the tools - the fella in the video is well practised in all lock picking but believe me, I'm no locksmith but I mastered the use of this tool in thirty minutes, once learnt, then you can open almost any tibbe lock in under a minute (jags included  ) and as I said in another thread, this unfortunately beats the deadlocks and any factory alarm

gutter or what?

did they come from UK bump keys?

I made mine with a triangular file

the locks on my house have secondary pins and are very difficult to bump - but still not that difficult to pick - either way you can't win unless you leave a giant dog in the house :D

They weren't from UK Bump keys but very similar. I did look into making my own but I wanted a full set and really could be bothered by file them all.

aye up! you cant fit manual dead - slamlocks to all doors because your van will fail the mot with them fitted. this is because of safety issues if you were involved in a accident and rendered unconcious the knights in shining armour would be unable to get you out in a hurry. :(

Hi i purchased an Autowatch Cat1 Alarm / immobiliser through ebay, which comes with a complete ford connect ready loom which plugs directly into the exisiting system, and uses the exisiting 3 button key fobs, it has multi programming options, auto arm etc, i added a glass break sensor and a dual stage shock sensor to the package as well and it came in at less the £150 and only took about 3 hrs to fit and im not electically minded !

with the dual shock set up it also stops the neigbours kids using my van as a goal post in the football games !

i will try and find the original sellers id if you are interested. Andy
