There is a 6 way adjustable seat for the connect, it was an option from Fords, maybe that will do the trick?

I've got a back problem too, and I would guess that you've got one of the Mk1 models. The driver's seat is awful, whether you have the 6-way adjustable model or not. There is no back support, and you get out aching all over. Even the fold-down passenger seat is better, as it's a rear leaning bucket seat you can sag into when you have a stop. I didn't realise this until I'd had mine a while and was crabbing about all over the place.

The MkII seating was totally redesigned with an independent lean & tilt for the backrest, and a rise & tilt for the squab section. By god did I notice the difference after the first long drive.
My advice is to change the van or replace the seat before your spine collapses.
