gear lever on transit connect

Postby Zak_perrin » Sat Nov 22, 2008 11:42 am

Hi there,

Just a quick intro to who i am before i go onto the problem at hand...

My Name is Zak, i'm 16 and studying at college.
I recently took the opportunity to take part in the engineering education scheme, which involves completing a real life engineering problem, with the chance to gain a "British Gold Crest Award."

My Group has been paired with an engineer who works at ford's in Basildon, Essex. The task we have been given by Graham, the engineer, is to design an innovative gear change mechanism, that gives easy access from the cab to the loading area, so it's basically not in the centre of the cab...

can anyone post photos of where their gear lever currently is and any information that would help with our project.

We are currently going with electric paddle shifters, which will be mounted either on or behind the steering wheel, like in the ferrari enzo.

any help will be majorly appreciated.
many thanks
Zak
