ICE Install - Vehicle Speed Sensor

Postby andymdj » Thu Nov 27, 2008 11:43 am

Hi all

I have just myself an Avic D3 ICE setup, and was wondering if anyone knows where the vehicle speed sensor cable is on the connect and what colour it might be. i am itching to get this in my motor today the boxes are talking to me !

Its a 2004 1.8 LPG T200L if that helps.

Hi, I dont know where the cable is. Have you fitted it yet because I was led to believe that double din stereos like yours only went in 06 on connects and yours is 04?

Nice stereo by the way :D

Hi

After looking on the ford microcat program which said it would fit, you're right the case is too big for the 04 surround, even though there is a ford AVIC surround, whidch says its for an 04 model, i have now ordered the new 07 shape centre trim and the ford avic cage which i should receive today, - i'll let you know how i get on !

having tried installing it even with the standard ford speakers the sound is awsome.! i'll try and upload a pic when installed.

Nice one :D

I cant decide which one I want but I think it will be the JVC KW-NX7000 because its the only face off one which I would feel better about as my van will be parked in some dodgy places now and again :(

I'm just praying the 07 centre panel is the same to fix as the old one, it only looks like a face lift so should be.

I was also worried about the lack of security face off, but it does screw in quite nicely and i'm thinking of making a facing plate to cover it over. i also have alarm with shock and glass break sensors fitted so hopefully i will be able to enjoy my unit for quite some time, (if i cxan get it fitted  )

I went with the avic as it is shown as a ford upgrade plus i got a good deal inc bluetooth and reversing camera, i didnt like the idea of paying for yearly updates which i heard you have for the kenwood sat nav.

hi andy

just to let you know the 07 centre trim is not a straight swap. i bought thr centre trim with the idea of fitting a double din.But you will have to alter a fair amount of the dash to get it to fit and sort new fixings. its not impossible but it will be messy and the centre trim isnt cheap.

hope this helps

Transit 97> Black 10 pin plug on rear of instruments pin 7 (white/brown)

Transit diesel 2000> Black plug on rear of instruments pin 6 (white/blue)
If it's not broke, "Don't try to fix it!"

Icallededition ....
Hi did you convert using your existing dash or did you try with the new model dash? Ford have been absoultly no help either at a dealer or technical level.

Ford systems state the radio is compatible with the 2004 spec even when it isn't...

My new centre bezel will be arriving tomorrow along with the ford radio surround, i will post when i find out how good (or bad) it is....... here's hoping .

Icallededition? did you get a part number for the replacement heater bezel? Ford cant assist at all and i cant even find a replacement part on Microcat.

For Information to all. The VSS Wire (certainly on my 2004 connect) is a blue/White Cable and it runs into the control box in the drivers footwell. you must use the one going into the control box, not the fly lead that goes to the diagnostics connector.
