re airbag replacement

Postby connectvanman » Fri Nov 28, 2008 2:19 am

Hi all going down a country lane slid on mud and literally just brushed against a post cemented into the ground, and bang of went the Airbag behind the steering wheel and of course the belt tensioner (drivers) activated. Looked at front of van and just a crack in the number plate was only Damage. My question to anyone who may have replaced the Airbag unit is How easy is it to do? If of course you can do it yourself. What sought of cost is it to do ? Do you have to reset any switches anywhere? And can you reset the Seat belt tensioner ? Any other advise gratefully received. Many Thanks for youre help

How old is your connect ? didn`t steering wheel change on newer ones ?

Seatbelt tensioner will need replacing, fit new airbag then replace control/restraint & have it configured at a dealer or someone with relevant equipment.

Gonna be an expensive encounter that........

Thanks, Connect Year 03 1.8 TDDi 75ps 220. Cant believe that such a minor tap has activated bag / tensioners. Literally small crack on the Front Number Plate.
