On ebay the bumper is around £37 plus postage, the endcaps are about £8 each and the plastic bumper cover is around £15.

Sorry to change the subject, but I wanted to ask somebody with the Sport van, at what RPM does the engine start to produce serious pulling power (torque). Is it under 2,000? how is it at 1500? I do have a genuine reason for asking!

Lightning,

The Connect Sportvan only differs in appearance from any other 110PS Connect (SWB or LWB) as the innards are the same.

I've found that my own 110PS struggles below 1600rpm in every gear, and stalls below 1200rpm in 1st quite often. It's dire when cold.
It's must be down to the lowered ratio final drive, which makes a bigger difference than the Ford figures imply.

It seems like the 110PS engine is a bit touchy. Get it up to 1750 and things improve. At 2000RPM which seems to be the optimum in my 10K mileage T230, and you can feel the surge really kick in. I'm not sure what lies behind your question, but hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the info. My reason for asking was as follows. When the van was cold it tended to have a sudden surge of power at 2500rpm. I took it to the Ford dealer and they hooked it up to their diagnostic unit to look for fault codes, and said it was OK (the van is nearly new) Now I have it back I am sure it is down on power! I thought maybe the technician altered the ECU mapping...can they do that at the dealer?
I'm certain that it pulled from 1500rpm before, but if you put your foot down now at that rpm not much happens until it gets to about 1700/1800, then it takes off. It's OK down to 1000rpm but there's not much power.
The thing is, the torque graph for this engine shows 250Nm of torque at 1500rpm.
Reading your post though, seems like I am mistaken as yours sounds the same. I'm thinking of getting it re-tuned at Vantuner, but he's offered all sorts of tuning options and I don't know what to tell him to do with it.

The torque graph shows a curve rising from 1500rpm which flattens out to deliver maximum torque (250Nm) at 2000rpm and beyond. The peak (overboost they say) of 280Nm is reached by flooring the accelerator from about 2250rpm. This is pretty much what seems to happen in actual use. You have to tread on the pedal a fair bit, as it's gutless below 1500rpm, and there is a distinct lag before the power increase comes in at 1700rpm .

It doesn't help that the diagram seems to have the horsepower (PS) and the torque (Nm) scale bands mixed up. I can't make sense of this.

Someone else on here might know if a mechanic could have tweaked your van's ECU to achieve the performance change you've noticed. If a van tuner can do this then surely the dealer can too?

im pretty sure the dealers havent got the equipment to re-map!! only read diagnostics and update stuff ! if you speak to vantuner he is sound and will tell you how it all works  plus if anyone gets stuff done by him and your not happy with the intial map he will re do it or tweak it for you no quibble i know cos i had mine done again due to the fact i asked for power which he did and it went like a train 8) but i was not strong willed enough and tempted by a heavy foot  so i spoke to martin and asked if he could tweak it which he did and so far ive got more grunt than standard its a lot smoother and about the same economy 8) 8)
