Engine stuttering

Here's another one...when driving along at about 25 in third, say on a very slight downward slope, where you are just touching the accelerator and then taking your foot off, it can't make up its mind whether to go or not, so tends to jerk. This only happens at a certain RPM, 1750 to be precise.
I'm guessing this is just an anomily and not a fault?

This seems to have cleared up on its own. I think most of these things are due to the engine management struggling to keep emissions as low as possible.
