Airbag warning light

Postby chris558855 » Wed Apr 15, 2009 6:10 pm

Hi, I have just about finished repairing my accident damaged 2008 Transit Connect T200, but having problems with the Airbag warning light. I have fitted a secondhand airbag, had the drivers seatbelt referbished and had the airbag module reset/cleared.

Now also had on dignostic machine 3 fault codes came up, two of them were cleared but one has remained and the light is still on!

Code is B1915 - Driver airbag first stage capacitance out of range - lamp flash cod: 4. Says to install a new driver airbag wiring sub-harness, but does not say which bit it is describing as a sub-harness. Any ideas?

Its the little bit of wiring loom from the airbag

Just a thought, have you fitted a single stage airbag to a twin stage van or vise-versa
I miss my 'courtesy van'............140 Glx..now a Jumbo :(

Thanks for that, any ideas on how to tell single stage from twin stage? The only difference in the old and new airbag that I could see was that the connector from the wire/loom to the middle of the airbag was slightly different, on the old one it is black and does not move and on the new one is is white and loose and easy to disconnect.

May have sorted it hopefully. Appears that if the secondhand airbag came from say a Fiesta it has a slightly different connector - sub-loom to Airbag. Presuming the Connect one has a resistor built in to the connector and the Fiesta one does not. Another Airbag is in the post to try! Fingers crossed...

May have spoken too soon!! Fitted another secondhand airbag complete with different sub-loom to the steering wheel - light still on and same fault code reading. Light flashes about 4 groups of 3 times then stays perminantly on. Do you think resistance in the clock spring next most likely item?

Different machine used this time - B1915 Unknown Fault / Battery Voltage 12V / Drivers side airbag ign circuit 1 - 2 Ohm / Drivers side circuit 2 > 10 Ohm / Drivers belt tensioner ign circuit 1 Ohm

On the fault list it gives B1915 as - sensor A - Voltage high earth

Hope that means something to someone!!

Hi, Yes the horn works and has worked with both second hand airbags and sub-looms and I think (not 100% sure) it worked with the original used airbag.

I presume there must be a fair amount of heat involved when the airbag goes off, as the original subloom had melted the connector to the airbag. The clockspring does look fairly delicate and I wondered if it has been damaged, but it seemed to continuity test ok. Going to price a new sub-loom and a clockspring at Ford and take it from there.....

Hi, every time you start, the airbag light flashes 5 sets of 3 flashes and then stays perminantly on.
