Inner rubber arch mat and central locking

Hi all, can anyone help me wit a couple of issues please?

i have just bought a drivers side rubber arch replacement genuine mat and it look a pig to fit, do i have to take the dash out?

i bought a aftermarket sliding door handle and cable to fit, i fitted the cable no problem and unfortunately the poor quality handle broke straight away (new one on the way) but since then my central locking doesn't seem to work! the key will only seem to turn once to the right and will not do the second term. actually I haven't explained that well as it will do a second turn but i cant here the click of the central locking. passenger, side door and back doors not opening.
