The show and shine - details here

Postby Luke » Sun Aug 29, 2010 10:30 pm

The show and shine is held on the sunday, it's free to enter and we'd like it if everyone did 8)
it doesnt matter if you know your van wont win a trophy - it's the taking part that counts, and it makes some great photos having a field full of transits all lined up 8) 8)

The lining up of the vans will start at 9:00am on the sunday morning it takes a while but should be done for around 10:00 but if you fancy your chances at a trophy be sure to get in early as at 10:00 we'll start handing out the voting sheets. Everyone who wants one gets one (you dont need to be a transit owner) once they have been filled out you can hand them in to be counted at 11:30 we'll stop handing them out and at 12:00 no more voting sheets will be accepted we'll total up all the votes and at 13:00 we'll have the trophy presentation :D

the catagorys will be the same as last year

trophys for the best 3 (1st 2nd 3rd) mk1, mk2, mk3, mk4/5, mk6, mk7 and new this year a connect trophy (1st only) 8)
vans will also be elegable for trophys for the best standard, working, camper, modified and ICE installation you can only enter your van in 1 of each catagory

then every van will be entered for the best of show trophy :D

all the trophys are awarded by public votes - no judges other than you :D

this is a copy of whats on the back of each voting sheet
How to judge – hints and tips

Walk round the vans have a look at them all, chat to the owners (don’t be shy) once you have seen all the vans fill in the number of the van (on the sheet on the screen) into the boxes on the voting sheet.
Everybody has their own opinions on how to judge but I would simply say just pick your favourites.

IF YOU CAN’T FILL IN ALL THE BOXES – JUST DO AS MANY AS YOU CAN!

In the spirit of fair play please don’t vote for your own van

Categories explained

MK1-MK7 – pretty straight forward these are the different shapes of Transits MK1 (1965-78), MK2 (1978-86), MK3 (1986-1992), MK4/5 (1992-2000), MK6 (2000-06), MK7 (2006 onwards) and Connect just pick your 2 favourites of each MK in order. The MK no. is written on the screen of each van to avoid confusion.

Standard Transit - these will have STA on the screen

These are regular everyday Transits – vans that don’t fit into other categories, judge these on overall condition, and appearance, and then pick your favourites!

Working Transits - these will have WRK on the screen

Vans in this category are working vehicles, out and about every day in all weathers doing what Transits are designed for. Consider what sort of work does this van do and its age? And how well the van is kept, obviously a recovery van is harder to keep in good condition than a flower delivery van.

Transit Campers - these will have CAM on the screen

All campers are included in this category, pick out your favourites, you can judge however you like but you might like to consider if the van is a self built camper and the owner has built it him/herself then the work they have but in, the layout design etc.

Modified Transits - these will have MOD on the screen

This category is very wide ranging – from engine swaps to body modifications, basically anything goes. Look on the sheet in the window for details of the mods, and choose your favourites based on how well the mods have been carried out

(ICE) In Car Entertainment Transits - these will have ICE on the screen

Judge these vans on the van as a complete package – not necessarily the loudest but look at the quality of the in-car-entertainment it provides. Points to look for are the quality and features of the installation.

Best of Show

Out of ALL the Transits, which one is YOUR overall favourite? If you could take one home which one would it be?

and just a taster
