hi everyone can i run a samll 240 fridge on 2 batterys in me van or not

240v you will need a inverter, they do take a lot of power mind, check the spec of the firdge and u can work out how long it will last , as for 12v well they don't really work, if the fridge is already cold ( been pluged into main for a day) then it will keep it cold for a little longer and if u got car running (14v) then a little longer but not much.

^^ it'll run forever if the engine is running.... guess that was a typo?

most modern little fridges are about 200watts, which is 16amps at 12v

so a big ish 80amp hour battery will last 5 hours if you drain it flat... but you'll kill the battery by doing that.. and there'll be some inverter losses etc... so call it 2 hours

but that's 2 hours of run time... and the compressor will only run for a few min out of every hour...


in my camper I've got a 240volt under counter fridge freezer I'm going to run via an inverter... plan is to plug it in when I can, and the rest of the time just run it when the engine is on.... set it to min. temperature so it gets nice and cold too

I have had a fridge in my van.

The outcome was ( true story)

They don't really work very well on 12v, some don't even turn on at 12v, they work better on 14v ( engine running ).

If u get the fridge cold by plugging it in the maibss first 12v will keep it cold for a few hours but not that good, if u are driving ( 14v. ) a little colder but not that clever.

We used to have ours plugged into mains outside house for as long as poss then plug into van intill we got to site with Ehu.

i hear ya m8 just use it when ya need it wer not really gonna need it much its more for show itl only have milk n water in and sandwhich stuff and the only thing thatl need coolin will be the milk so you think we should just like plug it in for so long when you need it and turn it off just for coolness? wer only gonna be out weekends so ..

does anyone know what i can use to hide ruff edges of carpet is ther any sort of flexi trip that i can put around windows etc ..
