Front seats as a bed.

Chaps im wondering has anyone succesfully used the front seats of a MK5 as a bed...im lucky as wife is only 5ft so thinking length wise would be ok.

Apart from throwing a duvet/sleepiong bag down to sleep on,has anyone came up with a comfy solution.

Ive made bench seats in the rear but as its a SWB no way can we all use it.

Just thinking for the odd night...as in on route somehwere and want a nights wild camping etc.

Before I converted my 06 MK6, I used it as a courier van. I used to be away all week, I had some good set contracts that took me on long distance runs)and used the front seats to sleep across 4 nights a week. I am 6' and I would fill the centre piece with a coat and then spread my sleeping bag across.
I had proper curtains and after having my tea in the evening I would settle down to sleep...I used to sleep very well indeed, even in deepest darkest winter.
Wake up refreshed, bit of breakfast and ready for another days driving.

Mrs Monty and myself had one of these ( this one looks much better than the one we had ) for middle monty when we did the VW camper thing ( never again )
That was a few years ago, now the blighter is 6ft 4 and still growing, wouldnt be much good now

whats the lay out of the van?
in mine the bench seats are across the back door and i have the kitchen along the drivers side and a cupboard bettween the bed and sliding door which im considerning 3 pieces of folding 2' board that can span the gap bettween the cupboard and the passenger seat when its turned into the van,and in inflatable matress on it .a consentena box in the foot well should hold the middle up and it should all stow away to nothing when not needed.

Cheers guys..that bed does look good,but at £70 the bitch can sleep under the van...

Just wondering as my double passanger seat (From Mini bus i believe) there seems quite a bit that justs out between the passangers inside seat and middle seat...will have to experiment with blocking the area where handbrake is,mind you she would probably only need the passanger seat..

Sadly the layout of the van isnt great as its a SWB (sh*t wheel base) so have bench seats along the sides of rear of van (125cm in length) with a rool of slats that goes in between to make a bed.

Behind drivers seat is the mini bus single seat for the wife and thats the van pretty much full....no room for kitchen.

Im half thinking to rip out bench seats and build across the back of the van (dont use rear doors) but then as the single seat is behind the drivers seat i dont see id gain much...unless i could come up with an L shape bed that pulled out to form a longer bed.

Or cut my losses and buy a MWB OR LWB van...after all the help and and expense on this van,that would be such a shame.
