Yet another electrics and solar question

Postby meetballuk » Mon Mar 25, 2013 2:13 pm

hello All.

im re doing my camper after many bojed attempts im getting a caravan fitter friend to do it but electrics are up to me.

i have most kit but have two key questions

1 does anyone have a solar panel fixed to their roof with those stuck on mounts, if so what is the wind noise like?

2 i have a inverter wired to socket in van from the battery, when i am connected to the hook up do i need a relay or switch to change the output from that socket away from the inverter to the hook up. or do i just let the hook up charge the battery and use the inverter?

thanks in advance

On my inverter, you can plug 240 into it and it will automatically switch over to 240 from 12 when 240 is present. If you cant do this with your, you could as you rightly mention, fit a relay to switch it over. Probably a 220v contactor would be easier.
