V5 has wrong Engine size on Motorhome - is this a one-off?

Postby berniem » Tue Mar 05, 2013 2:57 pm

Hi,

I have (I hope) a rather unique discrepancy.

I have just purchased a Rimor Katamarano 12P Motorhome on a Transit 2008 350 LWB/Extended Frame Chassis - Fitted with the 2.2/140ps 6spd transmission.

However the V5 has it as a 2.4litre engine (as did a variable no of the documents pertaining to the motorhome's original sale)!!

I wouldn't mind -except my insurance company put the price up when I originally told them (incorrectly as it now turns out) that it was a 2.4L rather than a 2.2L.

I have had it confirmed now by a Ford Dealer and so am about to try and change the V5 to show the correct engine size.

Just wondering if anyone elese has had such a discrepancy on their V5? Whether it is a Rimor problem?

Cheers!!

Had this problem on an old rover p6. The log book said it was a 3.0 when it was a 3.5. Sent the log book back and notified them of the change. Got it back with 3.5 on it no problem

Half the documentation from the UK distributors and previous owners had it as a 2.4l 140PS version - except when you looked at the handbook (picture of the engine and dipstick etc!) - oh and the VIN record (on Ford website!) which confirm it's 2.2l identity.

Will try and change it on the V5 - thanks for the reply!

My old Mercedes van was gross weight of 2,500kg. Log book showed it as 250,000kg. Sent it back informing them of the mistake and it came back with 250,000kg gross weight. Sold it like that.
I've got a semi

the DVLA can be quite funny about changing engine related details now. With post 2001 emissions related VED, an engine change can take a van into a cheaper tax class and they don't like that! If you can get Ford to confirm the engine size that should do it. Just sending the log book off with the right engine details just doesn't work any more.....
