Am I likely to get a suitable van?

Postby Howsono » Sun Jan 12, 2014 9:16 pm

I'm looking for a can for a conversion, and a Transit is a serious contender due to... Well just how many of them are, although I'd prefer a 6' width in the load bay.

So, as I've never bought a van before, am I likely to get my wih list for £1.5-2k?

[*]LWB
[*]Hi Roof
[*]2002 onwards (I live inside LEZ)
[*]solid fly wheel (I had to have the clutch/fly replaced on a mondeo with DMF and it cost me over a grand!)
[*]manageable rust - I know transits suffer and don't mind doing some but needs to be within an amateurs ability
[*]MOT

Am I being realistic? Anyone know of anything? I'm paying for the vast majority of my conversion from a bank loan so really need to keep a tight reign on the £££ - and I need to do the conversion as well! I don't have a god track record with cars and would like the van to be a better buy!

Yeah I know - but that still involves significant amounts of money to do doesn't it? Maybe I should include a proviso that it's cheap enough to warrant converting?

Thanks

Fair do's. I'm just mad nervous following my mondeo experience. Only got to do about 2k in it after the clutch/few before the engine blew costing me another £1.5k and ended up flogging it as a non runner anyway to a couple of pikeys for £340!

So do you reckon I'm likely to get a suitable van for my budget, smf ignored? Or am I going to have kt budget mig welding lessons in for that kind of price?
