Postby matt86_wd2 » Fri Jan 24, 2014 8:55 am

Has anyone fitted one of these awnings to there van ? How easy is it to do ? How was it fitted nut and bolt or use rivnuts ...

My van is a lwb mk6 high top so lots of roof space I can get a 3meter awning on easy !

Also what height from the ground was it to the bottom of the brackets ?

hi matt very easy just 3 brackets that bolt to side of van there are different types of brackets to suit different vans(check fiamma website) then the awning just hooks on these with retianing bolt underneath u will need a second pair of hands to help lift awning into place as it quite long and heavy. can b done in under an hour or two

if your buying new check the fiamma centre online they were £100 cheaper than anywhere else a looked i bought 3m f45s zip think was about £360 inc delvery
as for the height u can have it watever suits you as the legs that fold down are adjustable with lots of scope

are you just planning on using it as a sun shade or should i say rain shelter or are you planning to get side and a front to make it into a room?

at 1st it will be just a sun shade but in the end i will get the sides for it , but untill then i will band a windbreak or 2 up !

i found the cheapest price is £405

all the bits to go with it seems cheapest from here including the brackets and tie down kit .

I have sides and a front for mine that's why I went for the zip model it's a lot more quicker and easier to put up and down because as the name suggests they just zip on and off . I was lucky I managed to find a set of sides and a front that were like new on gumtree for £300 . I know some ppl think these awnings are over priced but when you use one regular you realise they are very good value for money .
As for the price think there was sale on when i got mine cause am sure the rrp is £560 so Round £400 still a great price but that's just the regular f45s if u are serious aBout adding sides and front later I would pay the extra and get a zip one
Only a extra £60 pounds and as I said make life a lot easier that messing around with all those clip on bracket for the normal f45s

Trust me I spent months deciding on the right one even went and tried few of my mates different styles to see what suited
As I didn't want to spend my rare holiday times messing about with a awning .
