I bought this van quite a while ago around 6 months as just renewed the tax and been converting it since then but with so many other things on the go has been a rather layed back approach .I have decided to pull my finger out as i want it manily done by the spring , have been away in it though but some bits i found was not right so i had to start to change them , better now then later .

this is how i got the van

Image

Image

side windows tinted

Image

rear wall moved out and moved back to accommodate the bed and fridge while giving me a toilet room and a storage space at the back .

Image

Image

Image

kitchen unit been made , got the unit from a vw t25

Image

Image

grill lined in Ali

Image

Fiamma water tank to be mounted under the van

Image

Image

Starting to make the bed the 1st time

Image

Image

Image

Image

Fridge vents cut and fitted

Image

Image

made a start on the cupboards and the tarting up on the inside , wasnt keen on veltrim over everything so opted for t&g over some of the areas , its only 5mm thick ish so nice and light .

Image

Image

Decided against a zig unit and would make my own distribution panel and fuse box set up .

Image

Image

switch for split charge relay , will have a light instead of a switch as wired up to the alternator charge light wire , Will also have a switch for the fridge to be turned on in the cab .

Image

the relay

Image

Bed extension as was not long enough , now is 6ft 1

Image

The gas has been started too , a manifold added , through the cupboard wall is the gas box , which has a drop out vent in , will be finishing the box over the weekend once i have got the clasps to hold the lid down .

All the intentions of this camper was to make a basic camper van with the comfort but not adding too much kit in a van , so i am doing without the water heater and shower as there is a sink to wash from and we can just boil the kettle , Plus we mainly go away for a weekend where can just have a strip wash , or when we are on caravan sites use there showers , when we go away for more than 2 nights normally on a site with facilities anyway . Will be having 240v electric as well as 12v but most appliances will be run on 12v due to wild camping as go to steam rallies in the summer where no EHU . Will be having a 12v leisure battery or 2 not sure yet along with 12v alternator charging and solar charging as well , while keeping power usage at a minimum . Will be having LED lighting a water pump , water pump for toilet flush , 12v tv to be used on odd occasion. thinking may have a inverter but not made up my mind on that one yet .The fridge will be 12v and gas as it what we got given from a t25 but needs a new heater electrode . 240 will be for when just on campsites mainly , but really wont be used that much , but i do have a genny if feel will need to be used where we go

While searching for a water pump i found the typical surflow pump would be oo much for the van as lowest is rated at 20 psi and with only 1 cold tap it probally blow the tap out the van and into orbit

Had a foot pump and is extremely long winded to fill the sink , but have found this that i might use -

right i have been trying to get on with this but awkward with weather and dark nights

ive removed the water tank and fitted a bulkhead barb which got a connection both sides so i have a caravan aquaroll pump in the tank on a short peice of pipe . Then i have a main switch of distribution panel and then a switch by the sink .

a short video

i have started to build my fridge cupboard and fit the fridge its only in there temporarily at the moment

a bit more progress but this time of year its slow due to when home its dark and cold :(

most of the 8 of the cupboard doors are done just 1 more to do and 2 needs hinges swapping for kitchen type as what i have used on the others and found them easy to fit and adjust . The sockets i moved to a better place as the t&g covered up the old hole and the gas pipework for the hob/grill i re done due to not liking how it was routed , pleased now , just need to clip it down . fridge cupboard made but i am missing the pins bolt jobys that hold the door on this fridge its a rm123f if anyone has any about ???

alot of painting to do due to being mdf each door must be having 10 coats of paint on each side  1st 3 coats watered down emulsion , then another 3 or not watered down and then the rest being an acrylic top coat . No pics taken yet but is a blue like the same as the van in an eggshell .

been doing a bit of carpeting today and nearly done all the van ... just a bit to do above the door and get a ali splash back bent and fixed on .

Image

Image

Image

wont be finishing off the carpeting until i have got a awning and fitted due to need access to the back side if gets bolted as not keen on rivnuts as could undo so prefer bolts with a penny washer and a nylock nut on .

But there plenty to get on with painting more doors for cupboards

Looking pretty sweet there. Nice work on making it neat and tidy. My mates van isn't nearly as well put together and he claims to be a cabinet maker. His sink and cooker unit is like yours in every way cept it is completely rubbish  Bodger :/

Thanks :D

Im no way a chppie kitchen fitter etc , im a agri technician by trade but I do try my hand at most things , sometimes does take a few goes till im happy with it but I want it right and to be safe end of the day . Will be having the stick down tiles you use in your bathroom/kitchen for the floor covering as easy to sweep out .

a bit of an update .

the mdf doors i made have warped in the cold damp weather so i had to make some more from hardwood ply . Toilet has been fitted and all the back lined will be keeping 1 area bare for storage of tools chairs windbreak etc and will be screwing in eyes to hold them fixed in transport , i used 12mm on the right side of the van rear .

Ha ha simple idea!

Afraid won't be a shower room as will be having the gas locker and storage for chairs, wibdbreak aquaroll etc. That's why I used 12 mm ply on that side wall so can put tie points/hooks on it.

Not much more to do now, need to sort gas box out and a table. Mrs want a mirror now on the wall.. Typical!
