I searched and trolled the internet for a poptop roof for a MK6 Transit van, but came up short. There are some options for SWB, but I wanted LWB for extra space and passenger capability. I decided on Semi-High Top rather than Hi-top as this gives some extra parking options, but the best I could come up with was a universal poptop designed for a Mercedes Sprinter, which wasn't very inspring.
However, we decided bite the bullet and risk going for the Reimo Roof designed for V Dub, with no guarantee that we could manipulate it onto our roof. But with time and skill from my guy, it sits lovely, with absolutely no leaks!! Some people might say, why didn't I just go Vdub in the first place. I'll tell why... They are twice the price of a transit, drink way more fuel and compromise on space. Yeh they are pretty to look at, but I had to think of practicality of family.
Therefore, I am so proud present to you, what I believe could well be the first Ford Transit Long Wheel Base Camper conversion w/ pop top roof in the UK. (This is as far as we know, as we haven't come across anything similar with extensive internet research). Kudos to http://www.freespiritconversions.co.uk for being willing to go on this journey with me. Now we have a wonderful van to enjoy for many years to come. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Extra Passenger Seats (7 seats)...Carrying more people was important to us. This was the reason why we opted to have rock n roll. We could have kitted out a more traditional camper, but we plan on a big family plus I run a youth group, so the space will be handy. The minibus seats were 2nd hand but blend nicely and we got a great price.

As you can see there is plenty of storage space... that is a bonus on a big transit. We hope to add some future development adding extra storage abov window, and low lighting. Perhaps Laminate the cupboard doors. Add a TV arm. Decorare side panel. Bunting, Curtains and Cushions all made by my wife! In total our conversion cost £9000. £3k for the van (56 reg 93k miles), £2k for the roof & install and £4 for interior conversion & windows. Would love to see your comments!
