Which carpet? plyline kit?

Postby rowantk » Wed Aug 20, 2014 8:53 pm

Hi converting my 2010 T300 sw lroof. Ive seen a few ply kits and a variety of carpet. Which would you advise? Also I managed to stick a hole through one rear panel......my options are to weld a new panel in which is an est £400 at body shop and may be hard to do well. Or get a window for that panel. May look strange but theres a window for under 70 quid on ebay.

That's the right glass yeah?

Any help would be awesome! :)

That glass is for a connect.

Which panel is it you've put the hole in?

Also is it hassle to take these side windows off? If I find one in the scrappy I may try and get it off.

for carpet o bought a kit of ebay, it comes with about 8 time of spray glue and is fairly stretchy, took us about half a day to fit and the fumes get pretty intense so make sure you keep the doors open, my van was already ply lined but i went and bought some more from the local builders yard, think it was about 12 quid a sheet! i marked it out with the old boards though and then covered these in situe. it depends how good with a jigsaw and measuring you are vs. how neat you want it, hth.

I put a new piece of ply down in the back of my van last week, bought two 8x4 sheets from wickes, 6mm, came to £32. Found 6mm to be a bit thin but came up with the idea of running strips down the length of the rear floor in the grooves to give it more strength. May also bond the strips to the floor and screw the ply down to them instead of going through the floor of the van.
One word of advice I would give is to rust proof the inside of the floor and behind the side panels at the bottom, they are prone to rusting. Mine isn't too bad for an 03 plate so Im going to remove any rust and treat it. I've also put polystyrene behind the side panels, just used adhesive spray to stick it to the side.
