Something to be aware of.

The cabling in your van has PVC insulation, and polystyrene reacts with PVC and over a period of years will bleed the oils out of the PVC insulation.
So with time and the usual vehicle vibrations the wiring will crack or fall off in chunks.

Household wiring does the same (i'm a electrician) and i have seen this in house lofts before and household wiring has the conductor insulation then on top the white or grey outer sleeve for the twin and earth cable.
van wiring has a lot less thickness of insulation so may deteriorate quicker, never seen polystyrene in a van before.

you may also want to consider the fire risk. Polystyrene burns.

Almost all coach built motor homes use polystyrene insulation
The cables are run in flexible conduit to protect them

Almost every material used to build a motor home is highly flammable

The same people that make the Triso super 10 + also do Spacetherm which does not have the reflective layer but is thinner.

I wouldn't use Polystyrene because of the fire risk.

As for damp if the dew point is not reached because the insulation and covering is not passing damp air to the surface then would that not mean that you don't need a vapour barrier? I have no experience on the later other than my camper does not suffer from condensation internally, whether this is because I always have a vent open I don't know.

I'd be interested to hear what an "expert" has to say. DO caravans have a vapour barrier?
