I need help!

Postby winchman » Fri Apr 29, 2016 7:30 am

I have had a few campers in the past mainly classics.
Looking at building my own.
Do you think I could build a four berth in a transit? Two bunks one double, ideally with toilet?
I thought of double converting from seats, bunks on one wall full length kitchen opposite?
Any ideas photos?
Thanks

Depends on the size of the van your starting with I suppose, but I don't see why not . Some 4 berth campers aren't much bigger than LWB vans.
MK5 Tourneo.

in my amby i have two bench seats each side over wheel arches and use a roll of slats to form a double sleeping across the van, i don't do kids but slept one underneath the slats and another across the driver/passenger seats once which worked out fine, she did not last long--------too needy. i've got shower/loo/oven/fridge freezer/sink/grill/double burner/ catalytic heater/two wardrobes/lockers etc. etc. amby's are good 'cos they are insulated have windows and skylights and plush suspension, mine is mk2 hanlon body 1985 v6petrol. A young 'en could easily be caged in the overcab locker btw

Sounds like a good little project. I'd say go for a LWB at least as there'll be 4 of you and you want a loo. Ours is a Mk 7 Jumbo 2 berth with a loo, basin and shower (as well as usual stuff like sink, cooker etc) and TBH I wouldn't want anything much smaller. Mind you, we came from a SWB Mk 2 campervan so this feels like a coach :D
