Mk7 tranny drivers seat swivel

Postby keeflester » Mon Jun 13, 2016 6:39 pm

I bought a FASP swivel from Jennings to fit to my Mk7. I'm having difficulty figuring it out. It's supposed to be a 30minute job. I can get the swivel mounted on the seat box ok, although it fouls the sliding battery cover, but it won't turn more than a couple of degrees because the handle and the turntable just can't get past the handbrake lever, either with handbrake applied or with it released. Does anybody know how I can lower the handbrake fitting to allow it to clear the swivel. Jennings were ambiguous in their advertising and never made it entirely clear that modification to the handbrake would be required. Is there a kit I can fit, similar to those sold for other base vehicles. I don't really want to send it back if there's a simple solution. Thanks.

All I did with my mk 6 was to re drill the mounting holes lower down and make up some spacers up to re bolt to the baseI still have to have the hand brake off to turn the seat. have a search on hear I have seen a post of a bracket that has been made up to do the job also it is better then my setup

Aye, thanks for that. I found the reference to the bracket. I tried the company, Coast2coast campervan conversions, they don't answer their phones and they don't respond to voicemail requests. I guess they must have enough money and don't need any of mine. I'll see if my local garage can help.

Update to the situation. I called again this morning, got straight through to Geoff and he is able to send me the required bracket. Don't know why, but they never got the voicemail.
