Mk7 swivelling passenger seat

Postby keeflester » Thu May 05, 2016 10:03 pm

Has anyone managed to get the double passenger seat on their mk7 tranny to swivel the full 180. I'm doing a conversion in a MWB van and the extra room will make a huge difference. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

You can buy a kit that bolts straight on but it's expensive

Thanks. I'm not too worried about price, as long as I'm sure it's gony work. That's why I'm looking for confirmation from somebody who's done it and found it works right.
We like the double seat and flipping it round will make a huge difference to the room in the cabin.

What makes you think it wouldn't work?

I read on a self-build forum that someone had fitted a swivel on a double seat and could only get it to swing 90 degrees. They then stated that was acceptable as it allowed to turn the seat enough to get into the rear of the van. This has planted the seed of doubt in my mind, so I'm reluctant to spend until I've seen evidence that it will actually work without spending more on some bodge to make it work. I'm ok with fitting stuff myself, but draw the line at cutting and welding. At the very least, I suspect that would negate the type approval and make insuring it impossible.

Just type what is into ebay and as well as them showing pictures of it at various stages they also guarantee it, you've also got the eBay guarantee

The one I just looked at was fully 180, and they're guarantee includes required saftey certificate for insurance purposes

I got one from customshop designs. It was relatively simple to fit and works perfectly. It locks solidly into the reversed position and doesn't intrude into the rear space at all. Cost was 250 quid plus an extra tenner for carriage to our remote location. I would recommend it for the job. :D
