Insurance

Postby Woodenman » Sat Aug 10, 2019 5:05 pm

Currently got my van insured as a van :) but im about 80% through the conversion process. Problem i have is that im due to head to France at the start of September and i doubt i can get it finished and re-registered in that amount of time.

My question is will it matter travelling with my normal van insurance and euro cover? or do i need to get van in conversion insurance? or just campervan insurance :)

These sound mad questions but I was aiming to just go with my normal van cover and if it catches fire or crashes stomach the conversion costs.

Thought please :)

Thanks

I have van in conversion insurance and for one it more than halved my yearly premium. I’ve not looked into euro cover as I’m not going until next year, but cost wise definitely worth changing to van in conversion policy.

Interesting to hear other's experiences. I have insured my 17 plate limited with Adrian Flux as a van in conversion They charged me £620 and insisted I fitted a tracker. That's another £199 PLUS 12 quid a month. Was desperate to get the van on the road so paid up reluctantly. I had no clue what others were paying.
I have 30 years worth of no claims and have a Toyota Surf insured with AF. One thing I now know for sure, next year they can FLUX OFF!!

I'm with Adrian Flux, ~£320 a year with limited mileage for 'in conversion' insurance, no time limit but no no claims bonus.

A plan with van as a "day van"
Basic CAMPERVAN with cooker 7 seats beds for 5 windows night heater etc.
Think it's about 400...
Not going to bother reclasifying as the arse has been royalty kicked out of it recently and they're nocking back van conversions by the bucket load apparently.

There have been loads of rejection letters for very good conversions. The powers that be must have something up their sleeves to screw us over more. It has been very hard to reclassify a van to motor caravan.
