Mk8 passenger seat height increase with swivel plate

Postby johnporter11 » Sun Oct 31, 2021 12:56 pm

My Kiravans single passenger seat swivel added about an inch to the height, making it uncomfortable behind the knee.
The drivers seat has tilt, but the passenger seat hasn't.
I found a means of dropping the front of the passenger seat at the front.
If you pull off the plastic side trim at the front you'll see a T40 Torx bolt at both sides of the seat.
Remove them and the front of the seat squab drops about two inches. Only problem is there is no corresponding hole to secure the Torx bolt through, so the seat squab is free to move up and down if nobody is sitting in it.
However, if you're happy with just one inch lower, the bolt will tighten against the plate. Job done. Front of seat is back to original height.

I was lucky when I fitted swivels to my mk 6&8 in that I used to have the drivers seat lifted up so I was able to drop the seat back to how I like it I’ve not done many miles in the passenger seat but haven’t really noticed and discomfort in it but then I started driving when the only adjustment you had was back and forth or fixed so you’re body had to adapt to the what you got I still find today if I get in anything with adjustable steering colum I lift it up to what in days gone by would what it was assembled at in the factory my mate at work always complained when I lifted it back up .
