Duetto heater swap

Postby bov783 » Sun Nov 27, 2022 8:59 pm

Hi all
I have 1996 duetto on a Mk5 long wheel base. The habitation gas heater is P4 Carver.
Although it works it’s hard to start keepings flashing red codes. I want to swap to an Eberspacher but
Unsure about the tank pickup etc. has anyone done this??
Any advice welcome.
Many thanks
Phil

What model transit have you if mk 6/7/8 on the fuel sender unit in the tank on the top of it is a nipple you cut the very tip off it and fit a dip tube and connector to it you have to drop the tank to fit it . this kit you can get from butler technique . For a mk1/2/3 tee into the fuel line I had a Eberspacer in my van but i found it not very controllable so I have replaced it with one of the Chinese ones off eBay you can set it on the thermostat or you can set it on injection pulses per minute from 16 to 55 I use mine on 55 for startup and turning off and 16 most of the time .For the price of £120 for the full kit it’s cheaper to buy then getting spare parts for a Eberspacer

Mk5 transit has 3 options

Fit a factory fuel sender with a standpipe in it (good luck with finding one!!!)
Fit a standpipe to the tank
Tee in to the diesel line.

When Ford engineering fitted an eber to my highcube, they teed in to the fuel line. When I fitted one in a previous vehicle, I tee'd in to the fuel line.

The two x BT a mk 4 & a mk 5 both teed into the main fuel line the mk 6 & mk8 I fitted from the good information on the forum I used the Eberspacer tank kit.
