I have the DCC50S as well, mainly for the reverse charging of the starter battery, it does require a rather low voltage pannel set up so no series pannels they need to be in parallel, not really found it to be an issue over the last 2 year though
having said that my van is parked way more than it's driven and having a combined unit is a worry (one goes down all goes down), lots of narrow boats use the sterling or the victron, victron you have BT and an app, sterling is better value for money from what i can see ?
