Replacing bonded windows with metal sheets

Postby workbox » Sat Jun 15, 2024 11:12 am

Planning to replace side-bonded windows on mk8 with proper double-glazed motorhome windows. Obviously, we will have to install metal sheets and cut holes to fit the motorhome windows. My question is, has anyone ever done this, and what would be the best approach? I have checked Youtube, etc., but there seems to be very little information. Cheers.

Every thing nowadays is bonded in you could try a windscreen company that specialises in psv,s the driver cab protection screen is made out of lexon plastic and doesn’t crack very easily I’m not sure but you can get it in black it’s possible they could bond in a window surrounding to fit your window try https://www.psvglassandglazing.co.uk/

Thanks Dumper.

My plan was to install metal sheets instead of bonded windows, as you would see on panel vans, and then cut the hole to size and install motorhome windows, like the fancy ones from Dometic with double glazing, roller blinds, etc.
To help the forum, I have created a separate topic about bonded windows - see link

My thoughts was that to fit steel would you need to weld them rather the bond them that’s why I mentioned that
