Hello,

Could some of you knowledgeable member suggest a location for both a diesel heater and a lithium leisure battery inside a 2022 Transit Custom.

My mk8 will be different to your custom I have fitted quite a few to different ages of transit and drive train and internal furniture so the way I’ve done them is look under the van floor for what area you can get to the inlet/ exhaust/ fuel/ electrical connections mine is bolted to the floor so you need to get to the nuts as well .then look inside the van to see if you have a space that works with your furniture set up .
Mine is a self built van and the heater is on the UK driver’s side just to the rear of the sliding door fitted in a bed bunk and there’s a area underneath in front of the o/s/r spring to be able to fit all the pipe work.
If you’re van is a manufacturer conversion it would be worth talking to them to see how they would fit one.

Good Evening Dumper,

I havent picked the van up yet as its getting a towbar fitted as part of the purchase so I havent had a look at the possibilities yet.

This is the first van I have ever owned never mind converted, so its all new to me. I understand that under the driver seat the space is taken up by the double starter battery, If I were to fit a leisure battery under the passenger double seat what would be the best way to route the cables between the two batteries?

Hi my van is not really a family type set up I marshal on car rallies with my brother so the kitchen and the sleeping area are separate by a bulkhead with a door to two single beds on each side there is a second bulkhead to separate the bedroom from the rear storage area so my heater and twin batteries are under the driver’s side bed .
Mine has single seats with swivels being built on a x mini bus it has a heater under it for the rear of bus I did look at removing it to fit the batteries there unlike a van there is a lot more wiring there so my Sterling b2b is in the kitchen unit that is longways on the driver’s side of the van .
If you are keeping the twin passenger seat all you will need is a short pice of electrical trunking between the seats as for location of the b2b charger it needs to get a good air flow to it I thought I had mine vented enough but last summer I was at a two day rally and i run a large compressor type cool/ freezer box it ran for the two days but when I got home after a long drive the cooling fan was running a very long time when I parked it up at home so I’ve fitted extra cooling grill in the kitchen cupboard door since then I’ve had no more problems running the coollbox the night heating never gave a problem over a weekend in winter .
