Advice Needed: Buying a Transit with a Wrecked Engine?

Postby chaoticbofh » Sun Oct 20, 2024 6:55 pm

Hi everyone,

I've come across a high-spec 2019 Transit with 150,000 miles, but the engine is written off. It's priced relatively cheaply. I've found a reconditioned 2.0 engine available for around £2,250.

Would paying someone to fit the reconditioned engine be sensible, or should I avoid this idea altogether? I'm looking to build a campervan using this as a base.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I may be wrong but sounds a bit cheap to me on top of that I would expect you would need new injectors /turbo there are a lot of doggie so called engine builders out there you need to be doing a lot of checks on them before you buy one I’d put the name on here and see if anyone has used them.
