Transit conversion good or not

Postby ellabbs » Thu Jan 30, 2025 8:37 pm

hiya i have chance of getting a TRANSIT 350 MWB C/C 100 --- 58 plate, recon engine , it looks pretty good for the year, and the recon engine sounds sweet, had egr done and has 12 months test on it mine for £1000 .

whats the opinion of campervan conversion gurus on here.. im fine with the work needed to do it... i can rebuild engines- weld-electrics-woodwork that doesnt phase me. just wanting to know if these vans are popular to be converted... its a high top.

your biggest issue is keeping the weight down inside as its so easy to go overweight either gross or rear axle

thanks for the reply , much appreciated.

the "350" relates to 3.5 ton gross doesnt it ,?. so vans 1 ton i have 2.5 ton to play with. i should come well below that .

just doing research before getting the van so i kinda have a head start, looking at conversion books, is there any thats better than others...?

You might want to revise that.... you will have more like 1650kg payload (inc driver, passenger, food, water etc). And transits are not heavy compared with other vans either. Yes a MWB weighs around 1850kg.
