Hello everyone, I am new on this forum and glad to join Ford Transit community. I own a 2018 Ford Transit cargo van high roof and use it mainly for work, carrying tools and materials, and sometimes for longer trips. I read many discussions here about shelving, partitions, load distribution, and using factory mounting points, which help me a lot to understand how to modify the van correctly. Now I am planning to add some racks and maybe light internal support to keep things safe while driving, and I want to do it without damaging the body or causing rust problems. While planning, I also try to understand cost and weight, so I searched for a
steel estimating only to get rough idea about materials and work, not for big construction, just simple internal frame if needed. This is small part of my planning, most important is still Transit reliability, safety, and resale value. I would like to hear from other Transit owners if steel is really necessary or aluminum is better, and if anyone had issues after installing internal structures. Sorry for my English, it is not my first language, and thank you for this useful forum.
