Work so far! update 14th July 2009 Zaphod 79;s MK6

Postby zaphod79 » Sat May 09, 2009 10:31 pm

What sort of self tappring screws should i use to attach my ply lineing, on my old van when i took the screws out they came out quite oxidized (rusty!!!). What sort of scews should i use to avoid this?

This is the work so far

Image

Image

11 years of dirt
Image

All cleaned out and old ply taken out!

Red Oxide

Painted Black with metal paint to protect inside, using the paint below, oops i touched it, and it scrapped off, so had to scrape it off and get the real hamerite out!!
Image
Dont use this, I realised it was water based
Image

So its now painted and sprayed silver

However i got a little bit in my hair and on my hands

Father in law working late in to the night as I was ill in bed!

This is what I hope to have ready by the beginning of the summer, I used google sketch up to make this, when i get a chance i will scan my floor plan in, and post it.

Lots and lots to do still, and I am putting off jobs because i need to get the exterior rust treated, and resprayed so the conversion doesnt say white man van all over it. I was thinking of moon dust silver, with some black logos my wife has designed

Stainless screws won't rust (though the metal around them will) but cost more

11 years of dirt

hmmm 11 years :?

:D Just fitted my AMP, speakers are in (well stuck to the wall with their magnet) but the sound quality is so much better, Insomnia by faithless came on the radio at just the right time to give it a real try! just about to go out and get a T bit to remove the seats, as tommorrow I start work on the floor, see my other thread on floor ideas, Ill get some more pics on here ASAP.

PS anyone got a camper shower tray knocking around? the company I have had one on order from since March went bust, and the employees descided to break the mold, so I have to keep waiting!!!!

Last weekend I put in some kingspan, but the pictures have got lost

Ok well had a busy day, took out both seats including the battery, and lifted the mat up, to seal the floor with Bitument paint, also bought and cut out the wood for the floor. Descided to use chipboard 9mm for the floor, and seal it with the bitument paint as well. less than 1/2 the price of ply, and seems as though it will be covered with either carpet, laminate floor, or vinyl i didnt think it would be a problem.

Will get the pics up of the floor painted ASAP
