Postby zaphod79 » Tue Jun 16, 2009 1:29 am

Any one had an exterior water tank fitted on their transit, i was looking at a CAK tank, but not sure about fitting it myself, previously i had a tank in the van, but im trying to save space

I'm sticking a cak tank under the back, one for freash and one for waste, was also thinking about a gas tank under the van too, still looking into that though

I put a C.A.K tank under my van. On the other side to the diesel tank.

I've used their water level sensors and they pre fitted them for free.

They have all sorts of prices. The bigger and the more complicated the tank the more it will cost.

You can download the price list and description of the tanks they sell from the website.

There are many ways of filling them, i chose to use the whale system.

As a damproof layer, I am forever putting wet gear in there like kayaks and caving stuff, on my last van i also had a huge leak in my water system which leaked through to the floor, I am also doing the same on the walls and ceiling to protect the insulation from condensation

Ive got to be honest im not 100 % sure my old van was lined with the same stuff! However it was done in sections, and the rockwool that i used on the last van was damp near those joins but the rest was ok. The floor was sopping wet when i lifted the wood, i think this was because of the wee leak that i had in the van and the water got under the damp proof. I am only going on advise from others, have you tried the Self Build Motor Caravanners club http://www.sbmcc.co.uk/forum/.

Hope ive been of some help
