awning for transit hi top

Postby parfit » Tue Aug 25, 2009 6:06 pm

I am trying to find an awning for my van, but they all seem to attach on to the gutter - the hi top on my van means there is no gutter! any ideas? :? :?

Yes visit the Towsure website which sells Proper awning rails inc fittings in small lengths to suit where 'you' wish to fit the awning to the caravan

http://www.towsure.com/product/14612-Awning_Rail

This IMO is the easist & simplest option for awnings,

Hope the info helps

I bought an awning rail, plastic in a 8foot length from my local caravan shop and fitted it to my mroof no problem, i think there is a picture on this site somewhere of it, I just use a porch awning and its great, give you loads more room, only problem is its not a stand alone one so you have to take it down each time you use the van but it only takes a few minutes to take down/put up.

As its a fibreglass roof I would fix a slim wooden batton on the inside to keep the rail secure

I agree those stand alone awnings are ideal if you intend moving the vehicle, I've been checking both porch awnings & stand alone types out but getting one for the right price has been the hardest part :(

I've aquired a full size awning (borrowed from family) just to try with my van but i've not attached the fixings yet either as tbh i'm trying to hold out for a smaller type such as a Fiamma/Ormnister canopy/awning but those things are pricey

Hi
I have a Fiamma F45i on my 98 Hi-Top Self built camper.
It is spring loaded with legs so it doesn't overload the body
I got it from AgentFiamma in manchester (on the web).
Had it about 3 years with no problems.
cheers Dave
