LED Solar lights

B&Q are selling off their solar garden lights. I bought 30 white lights with it's own small (4in square) solar panel. The panel has an on/off switch, so it's best to fit it where you can get at it, though it can be left in the 'on' position, and they will automatically come on when it gets dark, and go off when the batteries run down (to be recharged the next day).

When I got them, they had slightly naff star shades stuck to the LEDs (bear in mind they are for use on plants in the garden). I hated them, but with a bit of careful squeezing with a big pair of pliers to break the base, they came off! They are bright enough for 'background' light, though you would need something else for reading say.

I also got, for a tenner, what they call a shed light. This has five LEDs and a little pull cord. The 4in solar panel's cable unplugs at the light, so it can be threaded through the bodywork or fittings to hide it . Makes a great bedside or reading light!!

Talking of solar lights Fred QD stores have the stick in the ground type and they are 2 for a £1 which is mental really, i've got 50 in the back yard and it's like Blackpool I stick 5 in a flowerpot at each of two tables, Had to go up the road and score another 20 today 'cos me brother-in-law wants some.

Also put a great big Jaguar battery i got for nowt this week in one of the sheds and rigged it up to a 50w panel with a 10A controller for lighting and inverter use.
