cooling problems

Hi there,
I have a camper and I had the same problem with the fridge performance. I fitted 4 fans and a thermostat and now I can say that the fridge is working as it should be. I fitted 2 100 mm X 100 mm in the lower vent direction to the back of the fridge and 2 100mm X 100 mm at the upper vent of the fridge direction out. I connected all the 4 fans to a thermostat that works between 0 to 45 C . I set the thermostat at 40 C and not I see the difference in the fridge performance.

is it a gas/12v/mains fridge or just gas or just leccy??

Yes it is 12v 220v and gas electrolux

i think that the gas powered option is best as the cooling effect of liquid gas in pipes much more effective than electric alone- in uk electric might be ok as ambient temperatures much lower than in malta?

did it ever work ok on electric alone?

When it is in the garage I use mains . During driving I use 12 v and when parked I use gas.

and its not performing on all 3 sources? be worth pulling it out and looking to see if heat sink fins are clogged up with dust etc, or get it serviced by a qualified gas engineer if all seems well !

In Malta we have very hot temperatures that is why I made fans for circulation and to keep the compatment as cool as possible

Be more efficient to suck in colder fresh air from outside and blow heat out too for example through a. Gas flue
Outlet through side wall of van. Draw in cold air from floor use a ducting or such
Make hot air exit as high as poss as close to the roof of the cupboard/housing
... On the basis that heat rises and outside of. Van cooler than inside of van !

You'll prob want dust filters too to stop dust gettin sucked into van. Could use an engine air box and ducting with can sucking air into van
Could be easily bolted up and spare filters everywhere!
