respray for camper

Postby martin o'sullivan » Fri Jun 15, 2012 5:44 pm

Hi all

I was going to leave the respray till the van was completely finished but now considering getting it done now and then doing the final fitting inside.

Anyone know or recomend someone to do a full respray on a lwb high top transit, taking into consideration that most sprayshops have height restrictions.

Would prefer somewhere around london but will travel.

Not looking for a Rolls royce job but dont want the paint falling off if i go over 50mph either

Any suggestions/coments

Regards
martin

Full respray on a lwb High Transit to a good standard using 2 Pack Paint - solid colour is around £600 inc prep up here, but you would need to travel to Leeds.

Looks like it might be worth travelling unless I can find someone more local at similar rates in East Anglia

Hi yes I eventually forund some places, i was looking in the wrong placece really, you need to be looking for commercial sprayers that do lorrys etc. I went to a local car paint supplies shop and asked for recomendations of who they supply and was given 3 numbers, Got the van done for £1000 in the end 2 pack inc all preperation, rest removeal (grind out to bare metal not cut out and plated) all door shuts front and back. it was also a complete color change from white to burgundy so the dropped all the bumpers, window trims mirrors etc so's to get all the bits that you can see between the gaps. they had that van for a week and were always on it whenever i turned up unanounced. The job was good but not a show winner or anything like that but they were the cheapest by far so you get what you pay for, happy to provide numbers if you want them

I'm going to try a different route when I get round to it and am going to try brush painting again. I used a commercial paint last time ( a few years ago now) and its held up pretty well but the paint needs to be well sanded for another coat to go on top.
I might try a proper coach enamel there are a few web site dealing with brush painting vehicles for anyone else contemplating it.
