'OMO' mk1 autosleeper.

new addition to the fleet.
Dad has bought a mk 1 camper van. recently bought on ebay.
1977 36,000 miles with a 2ltr v4 barn find that had stood for 10years.
Image
after winning it and going collect it the seller said we could put on his ramp to look at it but, looking up into the wings we could see the wing mirror bolts! so some money was knocked off and off we went.

6miles up the road.

Image
a bottom end knock started :(
so back to the garage and some bartering a big lump of money refunded we limped it slowly back home but it still had oil pressure.

ive been busy with work but dad has had chance to pull the engine out, struck gold with a new pattern wing (source local too), removed drivers wing to find silicon sealer gunned into a hole and then Shultz over.
not a 100% sure what the engine damage is so ill find out and post it later, I think it was a bit end on no2 either from the wrong oil or being stood for some time.

extra gauges have been added and only 1 still works.
amps for each battery's, battery voltage, vacuum, oil pressure (still working) and a clock.
its going back to standard so the gauges round the speedo are going so I've removed all the extra dodgy looking wiring.
wiring for the camper part isn't too good and hardy anything works so i've started cutting it out ready to rewire a split charge and zig unit.

heater box has been cleaned, motor free and oiled, matrix flushed, insulated and fan tested ready to be fitted to the van but 1st I need to fit new bushes on the clutch pedal.
dad has more pictures on his camera so ill upload the work he's done when I get them.

My phones been damaged so I haven't been able to post much lately so ill put the photos I have.
I haven't had much time to call in on the van. I managed a couple if hrs work earlier this week on the passengers lighting loom that had been repaired for the test before we bought it :? Image repaired and taped up Image

Image
Parts painted ready to be refit.

I should also say a big thank you to the Sykes family for loaning us some space in their workshop with out this it would not be possible to carry out the repairs needed to the van described as having all welding work done !

Thanks jonno. Should look good. Been going through wiring before everything goes back together as I cut a lot of extras out .just need to connect back light for clocks and find out why I can't get the oil pressure light working when I earth it to body and a poor earth on rear drivers side light. That Just leaves the camper part to finish.
